advice on enlarging "f" soundholes

Imagemy reso has the "f" soundholes and i am planning to trim the opening with a binding similar to the binding on the body. the problem is inadequate clearance on opening. i don't intend to use a thick binding probably .040" at the max, maybe even as thin as a .020", but especially on the curves going into the holes at the top/bottom of the design there's no way to go about it. i'm wondering if anyone knows of a way to effeciently enlarge the entire opening on an incremental scale and keep the design in it's original perspective. i'm guessing a router type set-up (i have a router base for my multi-speed Dremel, as well as a standard router) would be one way. but i'm not real sure about how to set up.
