I've always liked this music, but it wasn't until about a week ago when Jill Douglas mentioned  Jimmy Webb's latest album on Jerry's board that I decided to play around with it. I listened to the Glen Campbell hit recording from 1968, and a great version by James Taylor from '09, but I intentionally didn't check out Jerry's solo on it. I guess now I should! Drums, bass and rhythm guitars are BIAB real tracks. I'm slowly gaining control over the guys in the box, but if I knew how I'd change a few things, especially with the drums. Having the BIAB is awesome for figuring out and practcing music like this. It was fun to break out the pedal steel , it is SOOO different than playing dobro! Once again, the dobro is tuned EBDGBD, and if anybody wants to know, the steel is tuned EG#BDEF#G#BEG#D#F#, that is before you push the pedals or knee levers.Smile

Here is the fiddle players most requested song, OBS! Heavy on the BS! Wink After about a month of practicing this I finally got it finished, more or less. I've learned a few things in the process, like not to try playing this fast after 4 pm! My brain is too slow.Frown Must be my age catching up with me, I seem to be more on my game in the morning. Wish I was 15 again and know what I know now! Now I worry what I've gotten myself into....if I don't practice this every day now I'll never be able to play it!

Paolo Ercoli - 2 minutes of fun playing Andy Hall and Greg Booth's stuff

Your browser is not able to display this multimedia content.

Just a couple of fun minutes playing small example of "Resurrection Bay" by Andy Hall, and "Monobrow" by Greg Booth, that you find in the Kathy Kallick Band's cd.
Greg showed me the beginning of this song when we met in a Bluegrass Festival here in Europe, and it's always fun playing it.
I've used the end of the Greg's original tune just to close my video, as I like it a lot. Thanks Greg, HOPE it doesn't bother you.

And Andy, too, for inspiration.

Corcovado

About a week ago I got back from teaching dobro at Puget Sound Guitar Workshop. I had the best week ever! After 36 years, they really know how to do a music camp. Primarily a guitar and songwriting camp, I was amazed at the talented players there, both on staff and attending. These jazz cats can pull out a chart and flat out wail on anything! There is a lot of free time and jamming, and one evening the mother of one of my students sang this Bossanova with Chris Grampp, (monster jazz and swing player!).....Corcovado by Jobim. Jobim was largely responsible for the Bossanova craze of the 60's penning Girl From Ipanema, One Note Samba and many more. I hadn't heard Corcovado, named after the Mtn. above Rio de Janiero with a 125' tall statue of Christ at the summit. It was so pretty, and it has haunted me since!
