Free concert-courtesy of Music on the beach at Coos Bay, OR on 9/18 beginning at 7pm till 9pm features 3 Ring Circle. Yes, it's free. Of course, it's $35 to park but the concert's free. Nah, parking's free too! It's a 6 1/2 hr drive for me but it's free! so I'm thinking about it. I may go down, stay overnight, and then play Bandon Dunes golf course the next day and then head back. How's that for a Twofer. 3 Ring Circle and one of the top 5 golf courses in the US. I can probably get a pkge deal at Bandon Dunes and then ...

Reso Top Tens of 2006

Well, it's that time again! Actually, I don't know if it's ever been "that time" per se specifcally on the good ol' ResoNation, but I thought it might be fun for us all to give it a go. :D

What were your top ten reso/weissie related moments of 2006?

I'll take the plunge and go first:

1. Working an extra job to save enough to purchase my Lazy River "hollowneck"
2. Spending hours upon hours with the Kelly Joe Phelps DVD.
3. Learning about ResoNation, which, IMHO, is clearly and without a doubt the most addictive of the online forums. :wink:

Res outside of Bluegrass

I am wondering when/where the res is used outside of Bluegrass. I see it as an easy port to alot of world music (Celtic, Indian, Cuban, etc.), but haven't heard anything of the sort.

Is it being used alot outside of its traditional roles (bluegrass, blues, country, and some folk)? If so, show me where.

Tone bar position.

After having watched a Three Ring Circle video on "You Tube", I can't get over how Ickes always seems to have his steel resting parallel on the strings. It always seems as if he is gliding from string 1 to 6 without ever taking the bar off of the instrument !?
